I was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and educated at The Edinburgh Academy and then at Napier University where I studied photography. For much of my childhood, life was split between school time in Edinburgh and holidays on the isle Arran, one of Scotland’s most beautiful Western Isles, where we were so fortunate to have a small cottage which served as a gateway to our wonderful adventures on that island.
One week after qualifying at Napier University, I travelled to London for a three week work experience and was lucky to find full-time employment immediately afterwards with a wonderful photographer, who would soon become a wonderful friend; Pete Myers. After two and half years with Pete, I found a suitable space to lease and set up my own studio. This studio was in the now highly fashionable Old Street area of London. I ran my studio in London for a very successful ten years, working for publishers, design agencies and advertising agencies before deciding to set sail for Paris.
After a year or so I found a permanent studio in Paris’ 9ème Arrondissement and worked there until the birth of our child Brodie and the decision to move away from the city to where fields are green and the sky is blue. Still working very much with Parisian clients, I am though, happy to wake each morning to see the countryside instead of stone and tarmac and to hear the birds instead of cars and vans.
My love is to photograph the extraordinary work of great chefs. But as a photographer, everything in front of my lens interests me. Faces, buildings, landscapes, objects, anything and everything. I hope you like my work.
